This blog is written and maintained by Miss Cuddlywumps, a fluffy-tailed calico cat who is both classically educated and familiar with mysteries. She receives creative input from the Real Cats and clerical assistance from She of Little Talent (old SoLT, a.k.a. Roby Sweet). Comments or complaints should be addressed to Miss C rather than to old SoLt (Ms. Sweet). Ms. Sweet accepts no responsibility for Miss C's opinions.
She of Little Talent (aka old SoLT) had some super photo fails this month. She even managed to get a video fail, in slow motion, no less. We'll kick things off with this exciting video of ... Resident Dog Layla walking away:
This is a fail for so many reasons. First, just look at it (yes, that big pink thing is old SoLT's finger). Second, she did not intend to take video at all, much less slo mo. All she wanted was a nice close-up picture of the dog. The only good thing about this video is that it is bookended by meows from Real Cat Paisley.
Here is an attempted selfie of Real Cat Webster. Don't recognize him? That's okay. We're not even sure which part of him this is:
And what would Pet Photo Fails be without some blurry tortie action? Here, Real Cat Paisley does ... something:
Now it's your turn! Just post your not-quite-right pet photos and link up here to join in the fun. All pets are welcome. The Linky will be open until 11:59 p.m. Monday (eastern time). We can't wait to see those photo fails and laugh at them commiserate with you over how hard it can be to take a good pet photo.
Not ready for this month's hop? No problem! Mark your calendar for next month's hop, which will be on July 27.
We have two fun Friday features for you today--well, three really. First up is a pair of April bloopers featuring Real Cat Paisley. Old SoLT was trying to get some cute photos of Paisley playing with her catnip snake from Purrfect Play (not an affiliate link; we just like them!). What she got instead was a small collection of blurry tortie shots, complete with a heap of dog toys in the background:
And speaking of photo ops that didn't quite work out, we are proud to announce the new Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop! Get your not-quite-right pet photos ready to share, and join us for some fun. All pets are welcome. We would love to see a blurry photo of a chameleon. Or a goat. Or a chameleon sitting on a goat. Whatever--just keep it G-rated, please.
#PetPhotoFails
This hop will take place on the final Friday of every month, beginning in May. The dates for the remainder of 2018 are as follows:
May 25
June 29
July 27
August 31
September 28
October 26
November 30
December 28
We hope to see you there!
Friendly Fill-Ins
And now it’s time for Friendly
Fill-Ins, from 15andmeowing and McGuffy’s Reader. They are a fun way to learn a little bit about the authors of
the blogs you read. The first two questions, answered by old SoLT this week,
are from Ellen of 15andmeowing, and the next two, answered by Real Cat Paisley,
are from Annie of McGuffy’s Reader.
Old SoLT’s answers:
1. I could really use a couple more hours in the day. There’s
so much to do!
2. The Chesapeake BayFoundation is a charity that I like to support. They work to improve
the health of the Bay by reducing pollution.
Real Cat Paisley’s
answers:
3. One time, I broke a little shelf that had an ivy plant
on it, and boy did it make a mess when it hit the wall and the floor and
everything!
4. I wish that I had gotten more pictures taken of me when I was young. Mommy only has two baby pictures of me that came from my foster mom. I was really cute! (She’d show them to you, but she can’t remember exactly where they are.)
We have two fun Friday features for you today. First up is our
small collection (a pair, really) of March bloopers. After that, it’s on to
Friendly Fill-Ins!
Bloopers
This is kind of hard to believe, but old SoLT only has two
bloopers to share this month. Oddly, she did not manage to take any accidental
pictures of her feet or the ceiling or a spot on the rug. No one is more
shocked than I am. Anyway, the two bloopers both feature Real Cat Webster—sorry,
no blurry tortie shots!
Old SoLT had this great idea to get a picture of Webster being fascinated by a fidget spinner. Turned out it was too hard to hold a cat and a phone and a fidget spinner, make the spinner spin, and then take a picture. Also, Webster didn't actually care about the spinner!
Then she thought it would be cute to get a picture of Webs taking his evening bath. But it was impossible to get a shot that was not blurry.
Bloopers blog hop, anyone?
We have been thinking of starting a monthly bloopers blog
hop, and we’d like to know how many of you would play along at least some of
the time. We are thinking that the hop would happen on the final Friday of every
month. It would be a fun way to share your “not ready for prime time” pet
photos. There are quite a few hops going on already, and we sort of worry that
one more might be one too many, but if you think you’d like to play by sharing some
bad photos, please let us know in the comments!
Friendly Fill-Ins
And now it’s time for Friendly
Fill-Ins, from 15andmeowing and McGuffy’s Reader. They are a fun way to learn a little bit about the authors of
the blogs you read. The first two questions, answered by Real Cat Paisley this
week, are from Ellen of 15andmeowing, and the next two, answered by Old SoLT,
are from Annie of McGuffy’s Reader.
Real Cat Paisley’s
answers:
1. For Easter (or Passover), I wish I had a pretty bonnet
with little flowers on it—NOT! I would not appreciate that, although I might
enjoy chewing on the flowers.
2. My favorite Easter (or Passover) treat is … well, we
haven’t really been getting treats lately—not since Webster started having
tummy trouble—so I guess we won’t get any for Easter either. Mommy has been
eating jelly beans since Valentine’s Day, so that’s probably her favorite. She
likes Peeps too, but she keeps forgetting to buy them.
Old SoLT’s answers:
3. Lately, the song “Broken Halos” by Chris Stapleton
is stuck in my head. The local country station seems to play it almost every
day while I’m driving to the post office. That’s okay, because I love his
music.
4. The A-Z Blogging Challenge is something I have never done. I’m not sure how I would do it and fit it into my regular blogging schedule (and by “regular” I mean my near-daily “OMC, I need a post for tomorrow!” freak-out).
It's blooper time! We have a pretty good crop of fun bloopers to share this month. I guess old SoLT's photography has been especially bad for the past four weeks or so. Enjoy.
First up, we have this selfie gone wrong:
And just in case you start to think that Real Cat Paisley is the only one who can take a good blooper, here's one of Real Cat Webster's selfies gone wrong:
Old SoLT can't remember what was happening here, but it resulted in some blurry tortie action:
Speaking of blurry torties, we will now tell you a little story about a cat and her rainbow ribbon. First, here is Paisley playing so vigorously the camera couldn't freeze the action:
And then this happened:
We are already looking forward to next month's bloopers!
We have two fun Friday features for you today. First up is Real
Cal Paisley, who has put together a small collection of recent bloopers. Then it’s
on to Friendly Fill-Ins, with Real Cat Webster joining in this week.
Bloopers
Paisley has just a few bloopers to share this month. She hopes you enjoy them!
This first one is left over from Christmastime. You can tell because Paisley is wearing her Christmas flower:
We're not sure why old SoLT took a picture of her foot, but she did. We're pretty sure she was aiming for Paisley, but obviously she missed by quite a wide margin. The dark thing in the upper right is Paisley:
Finally, Paisley has recently started walking on the railing above the front steps. Old SoLT was trying to get a double selfie while Paisley was up there, but this was the best she could do:
Friendly Fill-Ins
And now it’s time for Friendly
Fill-Ins, from 15andmeowing and McGuffy’s Reader. They are a fun way to learn a little bit about the authors of
the blogs you read. The first two questions, answered by old SoLT this week,
are from Ellen of 15andmeowing, and the next two, answered by Real Cat Webster,
are from Annie of McGuffy’s Reader.
Old SoLT’s answers:
1.The flu shot is something everyone should get (unless your doctor advises you not to)--even if it’s
“only” 30% effective (30 is more than 0!). Speaking as someone who lives with a
compromised immune system, I get really annoyed when people don’t take basic
steps to keep from becoming infected and then spreading that infection all around
(by going to work sick, by not covering coughs and sneezes, etc.). The flu may
be mostly an uncomfortable annoyance for many, but its consequences can easily
become life threatening for some of us.
2. I think everyone should take coffee daily. Because
coffee is just so good!
Real Cat Webster’s
answers:
3. I (almost) always take a nap on top of the cat tree
every day, because it’s one of my favorite places.
4. I (almost) never try to get outside anymore because I did that once and got scared and had to hide under a wheelbarrow until Mommy came and found me.
We have two fun Friday features for you today. Real Cat Webster is taking a break (i.e., he and old SoLT could not think of a good word for Words with Webster this week!), so we decided to share some recent bloopers that we think you will enjoy. Then it's on to Friendly Fill-Ins.
Bloopers
First up is Real Cat Webster, who really likes to help old SoLT visit our blogging friends by, you know, sitting on the laptop. Old SoLT was trying to get a Sunday Selfie of him, but this was the best she could do. Can you tell whose blog they were visiting?
It's hard to get pictures of Real Cat Paisley because she WILL NOT HOLD STILL. She'll be sitting there all pretty and perfect, and then, just as old SoLT pushes the magic button, Paisley turns her head:
The same thing happened here, but perhaps not as badly:
And finally, I am excited to share what is probably old SoLT's worst video ever. She thought she was getting cute video of Paisley playing. Unfortunately, she got her buttons mixed up, so she recorded the boring parts and stopped recording for the cute parts. We think you'll get a kick out of this "footage" anyway:

Fill-Ins, from 15andmeowing and McGuffy’s Reader. They are a fun way to learn a little bit about the authors of
the blogs you read. The first two questions, answered by Real Cat Paisley this
week, are from Ellen of 15andmeowing, and the next two, answered by old SoLT,
are from Annie of McGuffy’s Reader.
Real Cat Paisley’s
answers:
1. I would like to interview Jackson Galaxy, because he is so cool and kind and he loves cats.
2. I would like to be interviewed by Miss Cuddlywumps, because no one asks more insightful questions. Also, she said she'd scratch me if I didn't say that.
Old SoLT’s answers:
3. Halloween night, I usually pass out the candy, and I love seeing the little kids in their costumes.
4. Once Halloween is over, time seems to move even faster than before, so Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's are here in the blink of an eye!
We have been having a lot of fun this year sharing She of Little Talent's awful photos on the Pet Blogger Bloopers Roundup, a blog hop hosted the second Friday of every month by The Lazy Pit Bull. (Finally, a pet blogging event celebrating pure ineptitude—old SoLT has been waiting her whole life for this!)
We have been holding the following picture of Real Cat Webster specifically for the Bloopers Roundup. What happened was, old SoLT was on the floor trying to get sophisticated shots of Webs in the little bed, and Webs yawned (as you do when you're in your bed). This is the beginning of the yawn:
And this is the shot old SoLT was going for:

And now to Friendly Fill-Ins, from 15andmeowing and McGuffy’s Reader. They are a fun way to learn a little bit about the authors of the blogs you read. The first two questions, answered by Old SoLt, are from Ellen of 15andmeowing, and the next two, answered this week by Real Cat Webster, are from Annie of McGuffy’s Reader.
Old SoLT’s answers:
1. I love the following Christmas film(s): The Nightmare Before Christmas (doubles as a Halloween film!), Miracle on 34th Street, A Charlie Brown Christmas (counts as a film, right?)
2. I don't care for the following Christmas film(s): It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story—they’re all right, but I’ve never understood what all the hoopla is about with these movies.
Real Cat Webster’s answers:
3. At the holidays, I cannot resist napping under the Christmas tree for hours and hours.
4. A favourite holiday memory of mine is when I napped under the Christmas tree last year. Good times!

(Finally, a pet blogging event celebrating pure ineptitude—old SoLT has been waiting her whole life for this!)
This month we decided to try something a little different and share this video of Real Cat Webster on old SoLT's desk. Old SoLT thought it would be "neat" (yes, that is the word she used) to take video of Webs on the sit/stand desk while she lowered it from a standing to a sitting height. It didn't go as badly as you might think, except Webster got an itchy ear in the middle of the procedure.
Enjoy.
Friendly Fill-Ins
And now to Friendly Fill-Ins. from 15andmeowing and McGuffy’s Reader.
They are a fun way to learn a little bit about the authors of the blogs you
read. The first two questions, answered by old SoLT, are from Ellen of
15andmeowing, and the next two, answered this week by Real Cat Webster, are
from Annie of McGuffy’s Reader.
Old SoLT’s answers: 1.
Writing and grammar should be taught in schools. I guess they already
are taught, but there seems to be room for improvement. As an editor, I encounter
too many people who are college educated but can barely put a sentence together. It
saddens me.
2. The last item I donated was money, to the Humane Society. Can’t think of
any actual “items” I’ve donated recently.
Real Cat Webster’s answers:
3. My (personal) song is “Roar,” by Katy Perry, because I don’t really know any songs, and this is what Mommy said I should write, ’cause of me being a little tiger and all.
4. Three things I am thankful for this week are: my loving family, my really neato cat tree, and that the dog is finally starting to be friends with me (sort of).
This month, we have bloopers from Real Cat Paisley and Resident Dog Layla. Old SoLT was eager to get some good pictures of them wearing their new Halloween flowers from Barks A Lot Bowtique, and, well, naturally nothing is as easy as she thinks it will be!
Here’s Real Cat Paisley trying to opt out of the photo shoot ("There was nothing in my contract about a photo shoot," she said):
And here’s Layla being all wiggly (this is what you get when you try to photograph a dog; I did warn her):
And now for Friendly Fill-Ins, from 15andmeowing and McGuffy’s Reader. They are a fun way to learn a little bit about the authors of the blogs you read. This week, old SoLT answered all the fill-ins; Real-Cat Paisley opted not to participate because she was still upset over that unannounced photo shoot, and Real Cat Webster was asleep.
1. It is good to have a spare battery-operated lantern, as I recently discovered when we lost power for a day and the cheap little lantern I usually use did not work, even with fresh batteries.
2. I don't understand why the Kardashians is/are so popular. Nope, I just don’t get it.
3. The spookiest thing that ever happened to me was I clearly heard footsteps in my apartment, but when I went to check it out (wielding a tennis racket as a weapon), there was nobody there.
4. My favourite Halloween tale is “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” Love that headless horseman! The TV show Sleepy Hollow is a favorite too; I love how it mixes history with the supernatural.
We have been having a lot of fun this year sharing She of Little Talent's awful photos on the Pet Blogger Bloopers Roundup, a blog hop hosted the second Friday of every month by The Lazy Pit Bull. (Finally, a pet blogging event celebrating pure ineptitude--old SoLT has been waiting her whole life for this!) This month's blooper stars Real Cat Paisley. Old SoLT caught Paisley taking a bath a few nights ago, and she (Paisley, not old SoLT) had left one of her back paws sticking straight up in the cutest way--like, in a way that would look fabulous in a blog post or on Instagram. After a subdued scramble for the smartphone (subdued so as not to disturb the cute bathing kitty), this was the resulting photo:
At least you can almost sort of tell that the big blurry thing on the right is a cat!

For August, it pleases me immensely to share what I am calling the Worst Pet Photo Ever. I call it the worst ever because, no matter how hard you look, you will not find a pet of any sort in this photo. You will find a colorful bit of a rainbow cat dancer in the lower right portion, so we feel somewhat justified in calling this a "pet" photo. Also, it was taken completely accidentally while She of Little Talent was trying to sneak up on Real Cat Paisley, who was being totally cute at the time. And no, old SoLT did not get a cute photo of an actual cat from the incident. This is all she managed:
Worst Pet Photo Ever? Old SoLT's foot. This was supposed to be a cat photo, but I guess you'll just have to take my word for that.
Hello, friends. It's time again for the Pet Blogger Bloopers Roundup--and can you believe it's July already? This is a blog hop hosted by The Lazy Pit Bull, and we're having a lot of fun participating, joining other bloggers on the second Friday of every month to post the results of photo shoots gone wrong. Fortunately, She of Little Talent takes lots of bad photos.
Naturally, old SoLT wanted to do something special for the Fourth of July this year, so she decided to put patriotic scarves and bows on the pets. Adorable, right? Well, mercifully she did not go overboard, so the Real Cats and Resident Dog did not get overdecorated. Even more amazingly, she got decent photos pretty quickly. That means we don't have tons of hilarious bloopers to share. Still and all, it's not easy to get a good picture of Paisley. As evidence, I offer these:
This one isn't bad, but wouldn't it be nice if Paisley's
whole head had made the shot?
And Paisley has a habit of moving at just the wrong time,
so old SoLT does get a lot of blurry photos.
Hello, friends. It's time again for the Pet Blogger Bloopers Roundup--and we're already into the June edition. This is a blog hop hosted by The Lazy Pit Bull, and we're having a lot of fun participating, joining other bloggers on the second Friday of every month to post the results of photo shoots gone wrong. Fortunately, She of Little Talent takes lots of bad photos.
This month we're visited by Real Cat Webster once again, as he shows off his modeling skills while She of Little Talent was writing an app review. All old SoLT wanted was for Webs to sit still and gaze at the iPad with an expression of wonder and curiosity. Yeah, right. He walked around it, stepped over it, pointed his butt at it--all while old SoLT struggled to manage her camera with one hand while also trying to not fall off her balance-ball chair. It was hilarious.
You're pointing at the screen, so that means you want
me to go over here, right?
No? You want me to step over top of it? Okay!
Old SoLT did eventually get an acceptable photo, which she used in this app review.
Hello, friends. It's time again for the Pet Blogger Bloopers Roundup--and we're already into the May edition. This is a blog hop hosted by The Lazy Pit Bull, and we're having a lot of fun participating, joining other bloggers on the second Friday of every month to post the results of photo shoots gone wrong. Fortunately, She of Little Talent takes lots of bad photos.
Our May bloopers feature Real Cat Webster. They were taken when old SoLT was trying to get some pictures for a post about cats in boxes. The moral is, it may be easy to get a cat in a box, but it's hard to get the cat to sit still and look cute for just one lousy picture.
Webster practices being blurry.
Obviously, he's great at being blurry. By the way, that giant thing on the left is old SoLT's finger. A master photographer she is not.
Hello, friends. Can you believe it's already time for the April edition of the Pet Blogger Bloopers Roundup? This is a blog hop hosted by The Lazy Pit Bull, and we're having a lot of fun participating, joining other bloggers on the second Friday of every month to post the results of photo shoots gone wrong.
Surprise, surprise... This month we have yet another picture of Real Cat Paisley. This week, She of Little Talent got a new weather station (which she had to send back, but that is a whole different rant...I mean story), and Paisley was playing with the wind thingummy. It was so cute, old SoLT tried to get a picture. But when the camera comes out, Paisley drops what she's doing and comes in for a close-up. At least she's almost in focus this month. Just try to ignore all the stuff in the background:
Hi, friends. It's time again for the Pet Blogger Bloopers Round-Up, hosted by The Lazy Pit Bull. The round-up is a blog hop that happens the second Friday of each month, and it's a chance to see the results of some pet photo shoots gone wrong (which would be most photo shoots that She of Little Talent is involved in).
This month we once again have a photo of the lovely Real Cat Paisley. Old SoLT thought it would be cute to put Paisley's new Saint Patrick's Day flower on her collar and take a few pictures. Paisley clearly had other plans for that flower.
