The Cat’s Birthday Party

A fable from Aesop, as told by Miss Cuddlywumps

Once there was a cat who wanted to have a party. He told all the birds in the neighborhood that it was his birthday and invited them to his big party, which he promised would be a whole lot of fun. Birds love a good party, so they all flew to the cat’s house expecting to have an entertaining evening. But once the birds were inside, the cat shut the door and proceeded to catch and eat the birds one by one.

So the cat had himself quite a good birthday party. The birds, not so much.

Happy birthday to me. Where are the birds?

The moral of the story is:

Birds should not go to cats’ birthday parties.
